The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said in a statement on Friday that the 10th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (MITE) is slated to take place from September 23-25 at the Venetian’s Cotai Expo Halls A – B with free admission, themed “Cheers for 10th MITE”.
The statement noted that industry operators can offer online and offline business opportunities, while the exhibition covers around 23,000 square metres and will accommodate over 842 booths. Exhibitors and buyers will also be engaged online and offline, the statement added.
There are 471 exhibitors registered for participation, with 197 local exhibitors and 247 mainland exhibitors offline, and 27 online exhibitors (24 international exhibitors and 3 mainland exhibitors), the statement underlined. A total of 286 buyers have signed for the fair, with 221 offline and 65 online.
Meanwhile, the statement pointed out that the expo will have seven major highlights to deepen “tourism+” integration, including the Lusofonia* Pavilion, “Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin” Zone and the Palace Museum as a new exhibitor.
The local tourism industry zone will also set up the “Macao Street” and, for the first time, the COTAI Strip. Other highlights, the statement added, include “City of Gastronomy” culinary demonstrations and the “Gastronomy Pavilion”.
Advanced appointments can be made online, while free admission tickets will be distributed at the entrances of Halls A and C. Moreover, free shuttle bus services and free parking at Hall C car park will be available, the statement said. Further details can be found at wwrw.mitexpo.mo.
The statement underlined that the expo will strictly adopt COVID-19 pandemic prevention measures and that members of the public can schedule their visits on the website or queue for admission without appointment, depending on the day’s visitor stream.
Moreover, visitors with prior appointments can get a 10-pataca receipt upon admission, counting as part of the required consumption quota to enter the grand lucky draw, the statement added.
Supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the expo is organised by MGTO and coordinated by Macau Travel Agency Association. Co-organisers include the Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT) and Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), among others.
During a press conference on Friday elaborating on details of the expo, MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes said the expo was accredited by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) as an “UFI Approved International Event” in 2021, and that MGTO’s dedication will “continue in pursuit of excellence, innovation, quality and impact, as we strive to deliver Macau’s unique strengths and impact at the Expo”. She added that the event aims to deepen “tourism+” integration and contribute to Macau’s tourism offerings.
