Single-parent families were invited by SJM resorts and the Centre for Integrated Services for Family Support-Caritas Macau to Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau in Cotai for a string of activities as a part of the “Celebration of Art & Culture – Artistic Lantern Festival” for National Day, the resort operator said in a statement on Wednesday.
“Celebration of Art and Culture – Artistic Lantern Festival” is currently on display at Grand Lisboa Palace – West Lobby (24 hours), Jardim Secreto (“Secret Garden”) (open daily from 5 p.m. – 10 p.m.) and Grand Lisboa Macau – Hotel Lobby (24 hours) on the peninsula. Admission is free.
According to the statement, the families participated in activities such as the “Chinese National Day Lantern Making Workshop,” a guided tour of the lantern exhibition, as well as a range of interactive AR games.
The statement noted that 24 participants created an original lantern depicting a dancing lion, under the guidance of an instructor from the Macau Artist Society, which is the co-organiser of the lantern festival.
The participants, accompanied by Grand Lisboa Palace staff, then went on a tour of the lantern installations in Jardim Secreto and learnt about each lantern’s creation, as well as how they preserve Chinese tradition, the statement said.
The statement added that the exhibits celebrate local art and showcase the joint creations by six local “grand masters” and eight young artists. The participants also took part in the interactive AR games designed for the event.
The resort operator said that it will continue to collaborate with local organisations to promote an “inclusive and supportive culture within the community”.
