Firemen broke into a flat yesterday after neighbours reported a hideous smell emanating from the home to find the body of a 73-year-old man hanging from a ceiling fan.
The Judiciary Police (PJ) said in a statement yesterday that the Fire Services Bureau received a report at 10:47 a.m. yesterday from residents that there was a repulsive odour coming from a flat on the second floor of a building in Rua de Henrique Macedo.
The PJ statement said that the firemen got into the flat by breaking the lock securing an opening on the balcony cage. Once inside, firemen saw a man hanging from a rope attached to a ceiling fan.
