The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) has launched a public tender for the three-year operation of its Cinematheque•Passion, according to an announcement published in the Official Gazette (BO) yesterday.
Cinematheque•Passion is located on Travessa da Paixão (Passion Alley), a pebbled alley just a stone’s throw from the UNESCO World Heritage-protected Ruins of St Paul’s.
The new three-year term of operation, according to yesterday’s announcement, will start on August 1 this year and end on July 31, 2026.
According to the announcement, potential bidders are required to submit their quotations by April 11. The bureau will unseal the submitted bids on April 13 at its headquarters in Praça do Tap Seac.
The bureau has set 22 million patacas as the tender’s maximum amount.
Cinematheque•Passion opened on March 31, 2017.
According to yesterday’s announcement, the amount will account for 40 percent of the bureau’s assessment criteria for the bids, while another 40 percent will be for the three-year operational proposal, including a plan for the first 12 months of the three years.
According to the announcement, 12 percent of the scores will be for the experience of the future director who will head the cultural facility during the three-year period, while the remaining eight percent will be for the experience of consultants for the operation of the facility.
The art-house cinema has been run by In Creative Macau since 2020. It won the tender at that time by offering the lowest offer, at 15.2 million patacas. The cinema, which includes a library and opened in 2017, was initially run by CUT Lda.
