The Judiciary Police (PJ) were informed by the Fire Services Bureau (CB) yesterday at 8:05 p.m. that they had found a female corpse floating in the sea opposite Rotunda da Amizade, according to a PJ statement yesterday.
The local victim surnamed Chang was in her sixties. Her son said that she had had emotional problems, and that she had often walked near the roundabout.
After customs officers brought the body ashore, firefighters confirmed the death.
The statement noted that after a preliminary inspection, no suspicious or criminally induced injuries were found on the corpse.
The case has been listed as dead body found. The cause of death still needs to be confirmed by forensic examination, according to the statement. The case has been transferred to the PJ Investigation Section for follow-up, the statement noted.
