The Lands and Urban Construction Bureau (DSSCU) said in a statement that its officials, in conjunction with officials from several other government entities, yesterday repossessed an illegally occupied plot of land near Coloane’s Concórdia Industrial Park.
The public plot, which covers an area of 2,930 square metres, is located next to the Coloane Wastewater Treatment Plant, on the corner of Estrada do Dique Oeste and Rua Marginal da Concórdia.
Before yesterday’s repossession, the statement said, the plot had been fenced with metal nets and fencing boards, with three metal gates used as the plot’s entrances and exits.
According to the statement, various items such as scrapped vehicles, vehicle parts, and containers had been placed on the plot.
The statement underlined that DSSCU officials had ordered the occupants to clear all the items and return the plot to the government by a specified deadline.
According to the statement, the items had still not been removed from the plot after the deadline. Consequently, the statement said, DSSCU officials, in collaboration with officials from several other government entities, including firefighters and police officers, took action and repossessed the plot yesterday.
After repossessing the plot, the officials refenced the plot and put up a notice board warning people not to illegally occupy the plot, the statement said.
Plot earmarked for reclaimed-water plant
The government is planning to build a treatment plant for wastewater reuse on the plot.
According to Wikipedia, water reclamation, aka wastewater reuse or water recycling, is the process of converting municipal wastewater (sewage) into water that can be reused for a variety of purposes, such as the flushing of toilets, watering plants, road cleaning, car washing, and firefighting. Such water is also known as reclaimed water.
The Lands and Urban Construction Bureau is currently collecting opinions and suggestions from residents about the proposed legal development conditions for the 2,930-square-metre plot that is earmarked for the reclaimed-water plant project.
The Marine and Water Bureau (DSAMA) said late last year that the government expected Phase One of the reclaimed-water plant project located next to the Coloane Wastewater Treatment Plant to be completed in 2025.
The two photos released by the Lands and Urban Construction Bureau (DSSCU) yesterday show officials from several government entities, including firefighters and police officers, repossessing a plot near Coloane’s Concórdia Industrial Park yesterday.
