The Sports Bureau’s (ID) Sports Development Department Chief Chao Kuok Wai announced yesterday that the Parent-Child Sports Day, organised by his bureau in conjunction with the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ), Macau General Association of Neighbourhood Unions (Kai Fung), Women’s General Association of Macau (Fu Luen) and Macau Federation of Trade Unions (Gung Luen), will take place on June 11 at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion.

Chao made the remarks during a press conference at his bureau in Zape.

According to Chao, the registration system for the upcoming event will close at 5 p.m. on June 6.

Chao said he expected about 600 families to participate in the one-day event, which aims to encourage parents to take part in physical exercises with their kids, enhance children’s confidence and interest in sports and develop a habit of doing exercise regularly from an early age, while strengthening the relationship between parents and their children.

The event will be conducted on a team basis, according to the press conference, which added that participants will take part in two recreation and sporting events “full of fun” and will show “the spirit of cooperation between family members”. In addition to the competition, game and photography booths will also be set up at the pavilion.
