The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) said in a statement on Tuesday that applications for the 41st Macao Young Musicians Competition and Talks are slated to open from June 1.

The competition is dedicated to the piano category and is scheduled to take place from late July to mid-August, according to the statement. The contest rules and regulations were published yesterday, while age requirements per category and competition repertoire were previously published on April 14.

Registration can be done online at www.icm.gov.mo/cjmm from 10 a.m. on June 1 to 4 p.m. on June 7, the statement noted. No late applications and payments will be accepted. Participants must register through their “Macao One Account” personal/entity account. More information can be found at www.gov.mo/app, the statement said.

One can also authorise institutions or an ensemble representative to submit applications on their behalf with a generated authorisation code.

Bank of China Macau Branch is the contest’s “special supporting entity”, sponsoring cash prizes for all competition categories, the statement added.

Moreover, three talks in Putonghua will be held in early July, where three contest judges will talk about performance skills of composers from different periods, among others. Tickets for the talks will be available through the Macau Ticketing Network from 10 a.m. on June 1.

The statement said that this year’s contest will also have an advisory panel with members from Singapore, the US, the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan, with an online advisory meeting also held recently.

The bureau will provide computers for online applications at the Cultural Affairs Bureau Building in Praça do Tap Seac from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. from June 3-4, with users needing to open a personal/entity account through “Macao One Account” in advance and make a reservation before June 2 by emailing cjmm@icm.gov.mo or by calling 8399 6849.
