Macau recorded three critical COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre announced in a statement yesterday.
According to the statement, the three male patients, aged between 67 and 70, are all suffering from underlying diseases.
They were all put on ventilators as they were in a critical condition, the statement said.
According to the statement, two of them have not been vaccinated against the novel coronavirus, while the other has received four Sinopharm inactivated jabs.
Yesterday’s statement also announced that Macau recorded 676 COVID-19 infections on Wednesday, an increase of 30 percent from the 520 infections reported on Tuesday.
According to yesterday’s statement, seven new COVID-19 patients were admitted to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre on Wednesday for treatment.
Consequently, a total of 125 new COVID-19 patients were admitted to treatment facilities last month.
In April, there were only two days when Macau had new COVID-19 patients admitted to treatment facilities – two on April 25 and three on April 27.
The Macau government has warned that the city is currently being affected by a new peak of COVID-19 infections, which started early last month.
Before a new COVID-19 fatality was recorded on Tuesday, Macau had not recorded any COVID-19 fatalities for 116 days in a row, from February 3 to May 29.
Macau’s official COVID-19 death toll now stands at 122.
