A modern ceramics exhibition titled “Extractos” is showcasing works by artist Elisa Vilaça and her students at the Glass House (Casa de Vidro) in Praça do Tap Seac.
Extractos is directly translated as “Extracts”.
According to a recent statement from Casa de Portugal em Macau (CPM), the exhibition, which includes works from 11 participants including Vilaça, is a culmination of a Contemporary Ceramics course that was held at CPM’s School of Arts and Crafts with “a group of students who wanted to respond to a series of challenges in which creativity was the gold key to the entire process”.
The students created pieces from “natural materials” found on beaches, trails and gardens, as well as things that have been discarded as rubbish, the statement noted, therefore raising awareness on “environmental preservation”.
Moreover, the statement said that Vilaça created a varied set of pieces to enable the students to easily understand the course’s purpose. The statement quoted her as saying that she hopes to “inspire people who visit this exhibition, giving them the will to experiment and test their own creativity”.
The exhibition runs until tomorrow inclusive. The Glass House is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
