The 2023 Macao International Environmental Cooperation Forum & Exhibition (2023MIECF) will be held on August 17-20, the organiser said in a statement yesterday.
The statement noted that the four-day event will be held at The Venetian Macao in Cotai and is themed “Promoting green innovation, contributing to ecological progress”, with the exhibitions and fora focusing on topics such as carbon neutrality and the development of Macau’s four new key industries.
The government’s four new key industries are 1) big health, 2) modern finance, 3) high-tech, and 4) conventions and exhibitions as well as culture and sport.
The fair-cum-forum will invite international experts, scholars and traders to provide updates on environmental protection and create new international cooperation opportunities.
The event will be hosted by the local government, co-organised by the provincial and regional governments in the Pan-Pearl River Delta Region and co-ordinated by the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA), in conjunction with the backing of various entities such as the influential National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) in Beijing, among others.
With a number of activities such as green exhibitions, green fora, Green Public Day, and keynote speakers from the international environmental industry sector, the statement noted that the event has been extended by an extra day, aiming to strengthen its role as a platform for exchanges and cooperation between the environmental sectors from the mainland and their international counterparts to promote business cooperation and the “tourism+ MICE” for Macau’s appropriate economic diversification.
Various activities such as Green Matching and the Green Public Day will also be organised to enable cooperation and exchanges in environmental protection and to spread its message to civil society, the statement noted.
MIECF was first held in 2008, and in 2011 became a Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) certified exhibition.
