According to the latest forecast by the Macau Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) yesterday, this year’s fifth typhoon “Dusuri” is currently about 1,500 kilometres away from Macau, and will bring showers and thunderstorms from tomorrow.

The Zhuhai City Meteorological Observatory forecast that according to the current path, “Dusuri” will be closest to Zhuhai from Thursday afternoon to Friday morning, about 500 kilometres away.

Zhuhai lies some 8.7 kilometres northeast of Macau.

Background information released by SMG shows that “Dussuri” will enter Macau’s 800-kilometre zone on Wednesday afternoon, by then the bureau will assess the need for issuing a Tropical Cyclone Warning.

According to SMG, “Dusuri”, which is located east of the Philippines, will further intensify and enter the northeast of the South China Sea from tomorrow to Thursday, and will move towards the south of Taiwan and Fujian province, but it is also possible that it would track towards the eastern coast of Guangdong province.

Hong Kong Observatory forecast said that the exact path of the typhoon will depend on the influence of nearby weather systems, and the computer models used by different local meteorological departments may have subtle differences in capturing the intensity of these weather systems, which will also affect the prediction of typhoon direction.

Members of the public can get the latest weather information from the SMG website at https://www.smg.gov.mo/zh.
