Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) said in a recent statement that it has held its “U-LEAD Programme 2023 Graduation Ceremony” for interns who completed the programme and also hosted community tourism training seminars at the Galaxy International Convention Centre (GICC) in Cotai.
The statement noted that the integrated resort (IR) operator relaunched its U-LEAD Graduate Internship Programme in support of the Labour Affairs Bureau’s (DSAL) Internship Career Experiencing programme for the fourth consecutive year, providing Macau’s tertiary education graduates with a three-month internship in a large-scale integrated resort.
The graduation ceremony was attended by DSAL Acting Director Chan Un Tong, DSAL Head of Employment Department Lei Lai Keng, and GEG Senior Vice President of HR Centre of Excellence of Human Resources and Administration William Gibbon, among others, the statement said.
The statement added that a representative from the graduating class thanked DSAL and GEG for launching the programme and for providing them with a good environment and internship opportunity. This year’s internship positions included hospitality, customer service, F&B, data analysis, facilities management, information technology (IT) and the newly added MICE and Arena operations.
Meanwhile, the statement noted GEG and the Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) jointly organised two training seminars on the “Introduction to Macao and Its World Heritage (Historic Centre of Macao)”, which were attended by around 350 GEG management and frontline staff from 24 different departments.
The statement added that the seminars enhanced the participants’ understanding of Macau’s history and culture, as well as enabling them to gain the relevant knowledge to apply in their daily services so that they can support the promotion of community tourism in Macau.
After the seminar, a participant said that the lecturers’ use of case illustrations enabled staff to understand Macau’s history and culture from a different perspective, which is useful for them when discussing Macau’s cultural stories with future guests, and also will help them better promote the city’s tourism resources in future, according to the statement.
