Coloane’s Seac Pai Van public housing estate has been hit by two domestic violence cases, the police announced yesterday.

A 63-year-old local man was arrested on Monday on suspicion of having set his home on fire after arguing with his wife, a Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesperson said at a special press conference yesterday.

The spokesperson said a woman reported to the police on Thursday that her husband had set their bed on fire. She called the police after she had burnt her right hand while putting out the fire in their flat in Seac Pai Van.

According to the spokesperson, the suspect, surnamed Choi, left the city right after the incident. He was arrested by PJ officers when he returned to Macau via the Barrier Gate border checkpoint on Monday.
