A local girl sustained a contusion on the back of her head after being hit by a piece of concrete falling from a residential building in Calçada de S. João at about 9 a.m. yesterday, according to statements by the Public Security Police (PSP) and Fire Services Bureau (CB).

Yesterday’s statements said that accompanied by her family members, the 11-year-old victim was rushed to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre. Her condition was stable, the statements added.

Public Works Bureau (DSOP) inspectors pointed out that, according to the statements, a 15cm x 15cm piece of concrete had fallen from the external wall of the building’s first floor. The inspectors believe that the incident was due to the building’s dilapidated condition, the CB statement said.
