A local man has been arrested for damaging a private car parked in the carpark of a residential building, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Wong Chi Weng said during a regular press conference on Wednesday.

The suspect surnamed Mak is in his fifties. He told the police that he’s jobless.

According to Wong, a resident had parked his car in the carpark in Taipa on November 30 and returned to the car the next day, when he noticed damage on the left side of the vehicle and the left rearview door mirror.

After scrutinising the carpark’s CCTV footage, PSP officers identified Mak as the suspect and arrested him on Thursday.

Under questioning, Mak admitted that he had kicked the car multiple times as he found the car “inconveniencing” him.

Mak has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing property damage charges, Wong said.
