A local male driver reeking of alcohol crashed into the railings on Avenida da Amizade on Sunday, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Wong Wai Chon said during a regular press conference yesterday.

The suspect surnamed Lo is in his thirties. He told the police that he works in a hotel.

Lo was found to have been driving under the influence after the traffic accident was reported to the police in the wee hours of Sunday, said Wong, who quoted PSP officers who arrived at the scene as saying that five railings on the pavement were damaged.

Under questioning, Chao admitted that he crashed into the railings after drinking at a bar in Nape earlier that night, according to Wong, who noted that Lo has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a drunk-driving charge.

This undated handout photo provided by the Public Security Police (PSP) yesterday shows the local drunk-driving suspect being escorted by a PSP officer to the Traffic Police headquarters.
