A man has been arrested for stripping and beating his wife as well as recording her ordeal, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Ho Wai Lok said during a special press conference yesterday.

Upon the victim’s strong request, Ho noted that the police have decided not to disclose the identities of the individuals involved in the case.

According to Ho, the couple have been married for over 20 years. Since 2022, the suspect has been repeatedly injuring his wife during minor domestic disputes. Last year, the victim reported one of the incidents to the police but later chose not to pursue the matter further.

Last month, after the victim returned home from a gathering, the suspect accused her of infidelity and forcibly removed her clothes while subjecting her to verbal abuse and physical assault. The abuse included binding the victim up with a USB cable cord, gagging her with a white cloth and forcefully banging her head against a wooden stool.

The suspect also coerced the victim into kneeling and confessing her alleged wrongdoing. The entire ordeal lasted for over two hours, during which the suspect recorded the process. The victim suffered injuries to her head and numerous parts of her body. She later reported the abuse to the police.

The suspect was arrested at his workplace in the northern district on Monday. A video and two photos of the suspect abusing the victim were found on his mobile phone.

The suspect was transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) yesterday, facing domestic abuse and illegal recording charges.
