The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) kicked-off the second stage of its “Stay Chill, Play Cool – Macao!” project on Friday, launching an installation of its mascot MAK MAK on top of the Ritz Building in the city’s main square, Largo do Senado, along with a “Stay Chill Macao” Market at its exhibition hall.
MAK MAK represents the protected blackfaced spoonbill.
The second stage of the project lasts through December 1.
The installation of the tourism mascot stands as a new photo spot and “opens her wings to welcome visitors from around the world and brands Macau as a warm and hospitable destination”, according to an MGTO statement on Friday.
Meanwhile, the statement noted that the market in the building’s exhibition hall, which is on until December 1, features around 18 stalls selling products such as handicrafts and local snacks. Open from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. daily, performances, workshops and a “Mak and Greet” experience will be launched soon.
The second stage of the project also sees the “Stay Chill Play Cool Summer Treats” launched at different “check-in spots” in various local neighbourhoods for the summer, with those participating able to get a free popsicle with the design of the local tourism mascot or Macau-related themes at certain locations between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. on specific dates.
Those interested and who have a receipt of a single purchase of 100 patacas or above at any business in Macau on the day can take a photo with one of the “Stay Chill, Play Cool – Macao!” installations and post it with the hashtag “#StaychillPlaycoolMacao” on their social media account.
