SJM Resorts invited community members to participate in its “Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience Workshop Series” last month at Grand Lisboa Palace (GLP) in Cotai, with the series aiming to offer a deeper insight into the China’s intangible cultural heritage, according to a statement from the company earlier this week.
The statement noted that on July 16, the elderly members of Caritas Macau’s Areia Preta Catholic Pastoral Centre’s Kei Hong Lok Yuen activity facility learnt about traditional Chinese lacquer art. During the event, the statement said that the participants learnt how to create “magnificent, eye-catching vases through traditional Chinese lacquer craftsmanship”.
Moreover, on July 20, parents and children from the Macau Down Syndrome Association visited GLP to learn how to make paper kites “in an Oriental art style”, the statement said. They also visited the integrated resort’s Jardim Secreto (“Secret Garden”), with the statement adding that participants had a wonderful time.
“SJM makes every effort to protect and promote China’s intangible cultural heritage. The newly launched ‘Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience Workshop Series’ has been well received, and SJM will continue to provide more workshops and invite more local social service organisations and community groups to learn about valuable Chinese intangible art and culture”, the statement pointed out.
