A shoplifter from the mainland who stole a watch worth 13,000 patacas from a shop at an integrated resort in Cotai was arrested on Sunday, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lam Keong said at a regular press conference yesterday.
The suspect in his forties is surnamed Wang. He told the police that he’s jobless.
According to Lam, during routine stock-taking on August 13, an employee of a Cotai shop noticed that a watch was missing from the shop. Subsequently, while reviewing the shop’s CCTV footage, the shop manager discovered that Wang had stolen the watch the day before. The manager then reported the case to the police.
PSP officers arrested the suspect at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge checkpoint. He admitted to the crime.
Wang has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a theft charge.
