The police found 2,633 UnionPay cards on Monday in a flat which was operated as an illegal inn in a residential building in Avenida Sir Anders Ljungstedt, a Public Security Police (PSP) spokesperson said yesterday during a regular press conference.

The spokesperson said the police, acting on a tip-off, arrived at the flat on Monday morning and found seven men and two women inside. One of the men, a mainlander surnamed Chen, admitted to having sublet the flat to visitors at a rate of HK$450 per night.

The police searched three other men, who were staying in one of the rooms, and found a total of 482 UnionPay cards and HK$175,000 in cash on them. Another 2,151 cards, two point-of-sale (POS) machines and 17 record sheets were found in the kitchen.
