The Public Security Police (PSP) arrested a local woman on Tuesday for drunk driving and evading responsibility, with her blood alcohol concentration being 2.23 grams per litre, PSP spokesman Kong Chi Ian said during a regular press conference yesterday.

The suspect, surnamed Ma, is in her twenties and works in sales.

According to Kong, the police received two reports in the wee hours of Tuesday. One reported that a car hit a roadside barrier on Rua do Comandante João Belo (俾若翰街) and fled the scene. The other reported that three parked cars were struck in a nearby car park. Police suspected that both incidents were caused by the same car. Later that morning, the police found Ma and her car in the car park.

Kong noted that Ma was reeking of alcohol, and a breathalyser test showed that her blood alcohol concentration was 2.23 grams per litre, confirming her drunk-driving offence.

Under questioning, Ma admitted to drinking alcoholic beverages at a bar in Zape before driving. She first collided with a roadside barrier and left the scene, then struck three parked cars in the car park without stopping to report the situation.

Ma has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing charges of drunk driving and evading responsibility.
