The MGM Academy recently launched “The PRIDE Career Development Programme – Greater Bay Area Study Tour”, with 30 staff members taken on a three-day trip across the Greater Bay Area (GBA), according to a statement on Tuesday by integrated resort (IR) operator MGM.
The statement noted that the tour, themed “Innovation-driven, cultural integration, and industry synergy”, explored cutting-edge technologies and cross-sector practices in arts and cultural tourism, and also aimed to inspire participants to “discover more opportunities in the integration of ‘technology + cultural tourism’”.
The statement noted that the delegation visited Tencent Headquarters, the Intel Greater Bay Area Innovation Centre, Unilumin Group Co. Ltd., and Shenzhen Zhongqing Robot Technology Co. Ltd, among other leading tech enterprises in Shenzhen, to learn more about things such as the latest advancements in AI, cultivation of technological talents and humanoid robotics.
The group had also visited the Sea World Culture and Arts Centre and K11 ECOAST in Shenzhen. The statement added that the delegation talked about “innovative approaches to local cultural IP development, curation of art exhibitions, and immersive experience design”, as well as had discussions with cultural tourism experts in Shenzhen and representatives from MGM Reserve Zhuhai.
Moreover, the delegation paid a visit to the Museum of Dr. Sun Yat-sen in Zhongshan.
The statement quoted MGM Executive Vice President of Human Resources Wendy Yu (余婉瑩) as saying: “This tour not only enabled our team members to explore best practices and innovations in the GBA’s technology and cultural sectors, but also embodied the core philosophy of our PRIDE programme — providing comprehensive training for high-potential local talent across all levels, empowering them to grow and thrive”.
MGM Resort Technology Manager Amania Kuok, a tour participant, said that they will turn what they have learnt into “momentum for our team, exploring more innovative initiatives to enhance customer experience and create more great moments for our guests”.
The tour was also joined by representatives from the Guangdong Liaison Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macao and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, the statement said.
