Macau’s integrated resort operator MGM and US-based Fortune Media Group concluded the third edition of their Fortune Brainstorm Design on Tuesday, attracting more than 700 participants to two days of discussions and workshops centred on future design, cultural integration and innovation, according to a statement provided by MGM that day.

Held at the eponymous Fantasy Box at MGM MACAU, the forum brought together over 30 international speakers to explore how design can guide social and business transformation in the age of artificial intelligence (AI), the statement said.

According to the statement, the event continued to expand its global presence since its launch in 2018, combining main-stage talks, cross-disciplinary dialogues and networking sessions. The statement added that this year’s programme also incorporated a workshop on Monday curated by MGM under the theme “Cultural Preservation with Technology”.

Aimed at young people, including students, the session enabled local participants to interact closely with global speakers.

Meanwhile, the forum on Tuesday then shifted its focus to industry leaders under the theme “Future Tense: Prototyping Tomorrow”, the statement noted.

Kenneth Feng Xiaofeng, president and executive director of MGM China Holdings Limited, said in the statement that MGM aimed to use the “MICE+” initiative to deepen Macau’s global connectivity and support the city’s economic diversification.

Nicholas Gordon, Fortune Asia editor, noted that Macau’s East-West cultural blend makes it an ideal setting for design-driven dialogue, the statement said.

Meanwhile, the statement added that speakers from US companies Bjarke Ingels Group, the Eames Institute, IDEO, LAB at Rockwell Group, Populous, Japan’s Samsung and other global design and innovation organisations discussed topics ranging from AI-era creativity and ethical innovation to sustainable and regenerative design.

Fortune Brainstorm Design’s third consecutive edition in Macau aimed to reinforce the city’s role as a hub for cross-sector collaboration, cultural exchange and forward-looking dialogue, with MGM signalling its intent to continue expanding international design engagement in the city, according to the statement.
