The Public Security Police (PSP) arrested a female biker for drunk driving, PSP spokesman Wong Chi Weng said during a regular press conference yesterday.
Wong identified the suspect as a local clerk in her 40s surnamed Yang, adding that a woman in her twenties was injured in the case.
According to Wong, on Tuesday evening, the Public Security Police (PSP) received a report of a traffic accident on Avenida do Almirante Lacerda (提督馬路).
PSP officers arrived at the scene where they questioned two motorcycle riders, Wong said, adding that the investigation revealed that Yang had consumed alcoholic beverages during a meal in Zhuhai.
Upon returning to Macau, Wong said, Yang retrieved her motorcycle and, while riding towards the site of the accident, she apparently failed to pay proper attention to the road conditions ahead, causing her to collide with a motorcycle that had stopped at a red traffic light, adding that the collision resulted in injuries to the female rider in her twenties.
The police administered a breathalyser test to Yang at the scene, and the result was 1.62 grams per litre.
The injured female biker was taken to the hospital for treatment and has since been discharged, Wong said.
Yang has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing charges of drunk-driving and causing bodily harm.
Meanwhile, Wong said that at 2 a.m. on Wednesday, PSP officers arrested a male fitness coach in his thirties, surnamed Ao, on Rua de Fai Chi Kei (筷子基街) during their patrol.
Upon noticing that Ao was heavily intoxicated while riding a heavy motorcycle, the police administered a breathalyser test, according to Wong, which confirmed that Ao’s blood alcohol concentration was 1.4 grams per litre. Ao confessed to having consumed alcohol earlier that night while dining and socialising in Fai Chi Kei district.
Ao has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a drunk-driving charge.
