The 8th International Culture and Food Festival, featuring the nation’s gastronomic capitals Shunde and Chengdu, is slated to be held from September 30 to October 8 at Macau Fisherman’s Wharf, Frederick Yip Wing Fat, who heads the festival’s preparatory committee, announced during a press conference yesterday.
According to Yip, president of Macau Association of Retailers and Tourism Services, the food fair will feature Shunde and Chengdu, each listed as a City of Gastronomy by UNESCO, in line with Macau’s application to the UNESCO Network of Creative Cities (UNCC) to be included in the UN organisation’s list of gastronomic cities.
About 100 food stalls will be set up at the fair, with over a third set aside for local restaurants. Aside from providing diverse cuisine, the fair will include activities such as cookery classes, game booths, a photography competition and a playground for children.
