Six men in suits seem to be busy working on the countdown clocks at The Countdown Hotel at City of Dreams to count down the hours until Morpheus hotel opens in May next year.
The giant digital clock installed in the lobby of The Countdown Hotel (the former Hard Rock Hotel) with a duplicate hanging on the outside of the hotel tower is a work of art created by renowned Dutch designer Maarten Baas.
Titled “Count:Down Clock”, it is the first real-time clock that Baas has created in Asia and his first ever installation in Macau, according to a statement by City of Dreams.
Known for embodying conceptual art, public space and performance into his work, the designer’s “Smoke, Clay” and “Real Time” earned him worldwide recognition by being named “Designer of the Year” at Design Basel/Miami in 2009.
