The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) recorded 4.7 degrees Celsius at 7 a.m. yesterday at its Big Taipa Hill monitoring station, the lowest so far this winter. The bureau said that the 4.7 degrees was the lowest temperature recorded in February since the establishment of the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) on December 20, 1999.

According to a database on the bureau’s website, the weather station previously recorded 4.8 degrees on February 12, 2014 as the lowest temperature in February since 2000, the first full year of the founding of the MSAR.

The observatory also said that the very cold weather was forecast to continue until the middle of next week, with the lowest temperature forecast to be still below 10 degrees Celsius during the period.
