The government says that the city’s first-ever typhoon drill named “Crystal Fish” succeeded in testing its recently drafted evacuation plan and its also recently designed command platform for emergency response.
The drill took place on Saturday.
However, community leaders claimed yesterday that the “Crystal Fish” drill appeared to have failed to simulate the “real” possible situations when a storm surge hits the city during a typhoon.
The three photos provided by the Government Information Bureau (GCS) on Saturday show different aspects of the “Crystal Fish” drill, such as paramedics taking an infirm person to an ambulance in Ha Van district, participants being “evacuated” to Instituto Salesiano from Ha Van district and customs officers “rescuing a man” from a simulated flooded underground car park outside the Macau Customs Service headquarters.
