Central District Community Service Consultative Council member Lo Chong Fai said yesterday that the government should better prepare and keep working on the currently suspended crematorium project.
Lo made the remarks during a regular meeting of the government-appointed council at the Patane Market Municipal Complex on the peninsula.
On June 22, the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) confirmed that it had proposed the Taipa Sa Kong Municipal Cemetery as the location for the construction of Macau’s first crematorium. The bureau said at that time that since last year it had been studying the feasibility of building a crematorium at any of the city’s public cemeteries, adding that it considered the Sa Kong graveyard as the most suitable location for the future crematorium after taking various factors into consideration.
