Forex reserves top US$20 billion last month

The preliminary estimate of Macau’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to 163.6 billion patacas (US$20.3 billion) at the end of last month, the Macau Monetary Authority (AMCM) said in a statement yesterday.

Macau’s quasi-central bank said the reserves increased by 2.9 percent from the revised value of 158.9 billion patacas for last November.

Macau’s foreign exchange reserves at the end of last month represented 10 times the currency in circulation, or 83.9 percent of pataca M2 at the end of November, the authority said.
