Macau’s number of conventional dumpsters has been decreased by about 90 percent from a peak of 1,600 to 170 now, due to their replacement with waste compactors and enclosed waste collection facilities, the Chinese-language radio channel of government-owned broadcaster TDM reported yesterday.
According to yesterday’s report, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) told TDM that the capacity of waste compactors to store rubbish is much larger than the capacity of conventional 1,100-litre dumpsters – a waste compactor is equivalent to more than 20 conventional dumpsters.
According to the report, the bureau has set up 130 enclosed waste collection facilities and 82 waste compactors.
