The Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) says that a government-drafted bill on protecting the rights and benefits of the city’s senior citizens will be submitted to the legislature by the end of the year.
The bureau made the announcement in a reply to lawmaker Chan Meng Kam’s written interpellation about the bill’s drafting process. The lawmaker-cum-businessman sent copies of the reply to the media yesterday.
The bureau says in the reply that the drafting of the bill is in its final stages and that the bill aims to ensure that the interests and benefits of senior citizens will be safeguarded.
