The Judiciary Police (PJ) detained a man on Thursday for cheating a gambler out of 92,000 yuan (104,870 patacas), local Chinese-language media reported yesterday, quoting a PJ spokesperson.
According to the spokesperson, the 49-year-old suspect is surnamed Huang. He told the police that he was running an – illegal – currency-exchange business in local casinos. The victim is a 40-year-old male gambler from the mainland. He told the police that he is a businessman. His surname was not released.
According to the spokesperson, the victim was introduced to Huang by a male friend last Wednesday night. Both kept in touch through an instant messenger app.
