The annual cultural event that promotes everything French, Le French May, is bringing just five programmes to town this year, with Edgar Degas’ famous sculpture “The Little Fourteen-Year-Old Dancer” as well as Auguste Borget’s paintings of Macau in the mid-19th century as the highlights of the two-month festival that will see the other two dozen programmes taking place in Hong Kong.
The Macau programme was announced yesterday during a press conference attended by Consul General of France Eric Berti and Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) President Guilherme Ung Vai Meng, at Mandarin Oriental Hotel.
Organised by the Association Culturelle France—Hong Kong Limited, Le French May’s theme this year is “Dreams and Wonders”.
These images provided by Le French May organiser shows paintings and sketches of Auguste Borget that will be displayed at the Macau Museum of Art (MAM) for the exhibition “Auguste Borget: A Painter-Traveller on the South China Coast” that opens on June 29 and runs until October 9.
