The Hong Kong branch office of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) said in a statement yesterday that “the Thai government has now enhanced precaution and prevention measures for COVID-19” and all travellers arriving in the kingdom from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, Italy and Iran are “asked” to fill in a health declaration form and “will undergo 14 days quarantine.”

The statement said that “details of the quarantine procedure will be announced shortly.”

According to the statement, “If any passenger is found with high body temperature or related symptoms, the Ministry of Public Health officers at all Thai airports will escort the passenger for an additional check-up immediately.

“We advise all travellers to consider carefully whether they still want to pursue their journey.”

The statement urged travellers to “maintain good personal hygiene while visiting the kingdom should the travel be necessary,” adding that all travellers should check with their respective airline about their flight arrangements.”

Thailand’s tourism authority also said that as COVID-19 “continues to spread globally, we will closely monitor the situation and provide updates as soon as possible.”

Thailand is one of Macau residents’ top travel destinations.
