Macau's consumer price inflation rose 2.33 percent year-on-year last month, a slowdown of 0.65 percentage points from the composite consumer price index (CPI) last month, which stood at 2.98 percent, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) has announced.
According a DSEC statement yesterday, last month's composite CPI growth was mainly attributable to the higher cost of eating out, rising housing rents and higher prices of fresh pork, petrol and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
The price index of food and non-alcoholic beverages rose 6.08 percent, while the education index grew 5.14 percent year-on-year. Whereas the communication, recreation and culture index fell 8.80 percent, the clothing and footwear index dropped 5.16 percent.
The composite CPI for February rose 0.04 percent month-to-month.
For the 12 months ended last month, the average composite CPI increased 2.71 percent from the previous period. The average composite CPI for the first two months rose 2.65 percent.
