The number of confirmed novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the United States topped one million today, the real-time statistics reference website worldometers.info reported.

According to the international website, which is managed by a team of researchers, the number of confirmed cases in the US stood at 1,010,507 at 4 p.m. (Macau Time), with 56,803 deaths. The US counted for nearly one-third (32.9 percent) of the world's total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases and 26.8 percent of all reported deaths.

The global number of COVID-19 cases stood at 3.066 million, with 211,665 deaths.

Macau has confirmed 45 novel coronavirus disease cases, with no deaths. Only 13 of the patients were still in hospital today. Unlike Hong Kong, Macau has been spared a community outbreak. All but two of the 45 cases have been classified by the Macau Health Bureau (SSM) as imported. The other two have been classified as "cases related to imported cases."
