Secretary for Economy and Finance Lionel Leong Vai Tac said yesterday the government hoped to boost co-operation between Macau companies and their counterparts in Zhejiang, adding that the cultural and commercial exchanges between the two places were becoming more frequent.

Addressing the founding ceremony of the Association of Zhejiang Entrepreneurs of Macau at Macau Tower, the policy secretary said he hoped more businesspeople from Zhejiang would invest in the city.

He also praised Zhejiang businesspeople for their “spirit of innovation and creativity”. “[Being creative and innovative] is the reason for Zhejiang businesspeople’s success. Macau should draw lessons from them,” Leong said. “We hope to further boost co-operation between industries in Macau and Zhejiang under the CEPA framework.”
