A painting exhibition entitled “Dazzle Lotus” (幻彩蓮花in Chinese) by mainland artist Shize (石澤), co-organised by the Macau Wa Ha Art and Cultural Association (澳門華夏文化藝術學會), Tou In Learning Association (陶然學社) and the Macau Seniors Painting and Calligraphy Association (澳門老年書畫家協會), is being held at The Plaza Restaurant gallery.

The event is part of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA) Calligraphy and Painting Art Touring Exhibition.

According to a statement by the organisers, the exhibition displays 35 paintings and aims to provide opportunities for local art lovers to interact with, and learn from each other, as well as to promote the development of the local arts scene.

Guan Quan Chang, chairman of the Macau Wa Ha Art and Cultural Association, pointed out in a speech at the exhibition’s opening ceremony last week that even though Shize lives in the UK, he has studied Chinese landscape painting for more than 30 years. Shize’s paintings look vivid, three-dimensional and textured due to his dedication and focus, according to Guan, who underlined that Shize’s creation of the “Dazzle Lotus” series integrates traditional Chinese ink brushwork and Tibetan Buddhist artwork with Western oil paintings which have become an original art form that expresses the elegance and refinement of lotus flowers to the fullest.

The exhibition runs until March 10 at the gallery on the second floor of the restaurant. It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is free.
