A total of 167 cases in which motor vehicle owners “misused” public car parks were recorded in the first half of the year, the Transport Bureau (DSAT) said in a statement yesterday.
According to public car park regulations, a motor vehicle cannot be parked in a car park building for more than eight consecutive days, except if the owner has a monthly pass. If the owner breaks the rule, the car park management can ask the Public Security Police (PSP) to clamp the vehicle. After three hours, the vehicle will be removed if the owner does not pay the fine.
According to the statement, of the 167 cases, seven were scooters, while the remainder were cars. The cases were detected in 40 car parks run by the bureau during the first six months of the year.
