A jobless local man was arrested yesterday for exposing his private parts to a schoolgirl passing in the street in the northern district last Saturday, according to a statement by Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Ho Chan Nam yesterday.
The 45-year-old suspect is surnamed Lei.
According to Ho’s statement, the Judiciary Police received a notification on Wednesday from a secondary school in the northern district through the “School Safety Network” mechanism that a man had exposed his genitals to one of the school’s female students when she was on her way to classes last Saturday.
The statement did not reveal the girl’s age.
The Judiciary Police identified Lei as the suspect and arrested him at his home yesterday morning. PJ officers noticed that Leong’s mental state was abnormal and he was taken to the public Conde de S. Januário Hospital Centre for a mental health assessment, Ho’s statement said.
The Judiciary Police have transferred the case to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP). Lei faces an exhibitionism charge, according to Ho’s statement.
