Registration for the annual 2022 Summer Activities organised by the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) and the Sports Bureau (ID) will run from 10 a.m. today to next Thursday at 10 p.m.

According to a statement by the two bureaus yesterday, a total of 551 activities, 2,074 classes, and over 44,000 spots have been launched for local children and youngsters to join, in which 443 activities, 1,282 classes, and over 24,000 spots will be organised by the DSEDJ, while over 19,000 spots will be provided for 108 sports activities through 792 classes hosted by the Sports Bureau.

The statement underlined that each applicant can only sign up for one class during the registration period, but can then apply for two courses during the remaining quota registration period, the date of which will be announced in due course.

Meanwhile, DSEDJ Student Department Chief Chan Iok Wai said yesterday during a press conference at the Education and Youth Development Bureau in Nam Van that applicants can register for the classes on the summer activity website www.summeractivity.gov.mo or via “Macao One Account” from May 26 to June 2, adding that the results of the lucky draw will be announced on June 8, after which applicants who get a spot can sign up and pay for their class by Visa, Union Pay, Mastercard or Mpay.

Chan said that in order to allow students to learn more about Chinese culture, and increase their interests in science and technology as well as other areas, 100 activities including shadow play, video production and hair design have been added this year, adding that 17 activities have also been launched for disabled students.

Chan underlined that participants and people who join the students in family activities must present a valid green Macau Health Code – and have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at least 14 days prior – to their instructor at the first class or present a nucleic acid test (NAT) certificate confirming a negative COVID-19 result valid for seven days when attending every class of their course.

Lou I Wan, acting chief of the Sports Development Department of the Sports Bureau, said during the joint press conference that there is an increase of 1,300 spots this year compared to last year, adding that three activities – beach volleyball, snooker, and intangible cultural heritage – the Drunken Dragon dance, are now offered for students to try different elements of sports.

‘My Photo’ added to ‘Macao One Account’

Meanwhile, a new “My Photo” function in the “Macao One Account” mobile application was introduced during a press conference by Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau (SAFP) Deputy Director Ng Wai Han yesterday, who said that starting today residents are able to upload 20 photos on each of their “selfie” and “ID photos” on their account for government online applications and its appointed public counter services without submitting an actual picture.

Ng said that “My Photo” is divided into two categories – “selfie” and “ID Photo”. The former can be taken by residents using their mobile devices that is used for applying for services, such as summer activities, while the latter needs to be taken by an appointed photo studio where a receipt with a QR code will be provided for residents to scan and add their photo to their personal account, adding that the validity for “ID Photo” is six months after the photo was taken. She also noted that 26 studios showing a government-approved sticker have been authorised to provide the service.

Ng underlined that the “selfie” uploaded to the account will go through an imaging recognition process to make sure that the photo is a portrait with a blank background and taken in the usual way, i.e., the person cannot wear a cap in the photo. She also said that students, aged four to 25 can use “My Photo” to submit the pictures for their summer activities’ applications through “Macao One Account”, adding that as their identities have been confirmed before, they do not need to fill in the personal data again.

Ng said that 19 public counter services will accept the photos from the applicants’ “Macao One Account” by providing a QR code of their photo for officials to scan and then need to follow the officials’ instructions to enter the sharing codes.

Identification Services Bureau (DSI) Deputy Director Chau Wai Ieng said at the conference that the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) travel document application service will be launched today, adding that residents who are aged 18 or above can use the “Macao One Account” to apply for the MSAR Passport, Travel Permit and Visit Permit (for residents to travel to Hong Kong) ,or on behalf of their underage children who are aged at least five according to their local ID card, underlining that the applicants are required to use the photo applicable for identification documents in “My Photo” as the one for their respective travel document application.
