The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has launched a free ticket offer for the direct bus service from the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) to Macau, according to an MGTO statement on Sunday.

The offer, a partnership between MGTO and the bus service operator, has been available since Monday, New Year’s Day. Using the free tickets, tourists from overseas and the Taiwan region will be able to travel directly from the HKIA to Macau Port via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB), the statement noted. “Macau Port” refers to Macau’s border checkpoint on the bridge.

The statement said that the offer aims to encourage foreign and Taiwan visitors to extend their trip to Macau, as well as to spur twin-destination tourism to the two special administrative regions (SARs) while also tapping diverse international visitor markets.

The use of the service is unlimited throughout the duration of the offer, but is conducted on a first-come, first-served basis, the statement added. The statement did not say how long the free Macau-bound bus rides will be on offer. Neither did the statement mention the frequency and timing of the free bus rides.

To use the service, visitors, upon arriving at the HKIA, can head to the direct bus service counter, present their travel documents and boarding passes, and register to obtain the free bus tickets, according to the statement.

Meanwhile, the statement noted that MGTO and the bus service operator will launch online and offline promotions about the free tickets on their social media platforms.

For enquiries, one can visit www.macauhkairportbus.com or contact the operator on 853 6567 0900 (Macau) or 852 3193 9188 (Hong Kong). One can also email cs@macauhkairportbus.com.
