Macau’s six integrated resort (IR) operators have garnered many awards in the 2024 Forbes Travel Guide (FTG), with the city continuing to have the most Forbes five-star hotels in the world with no less than 22, according to Forbes website.
The guide, the website notes, is the only independent, global rating system for luxury hotels, restaurants and spas. Each IR operator issued separate statements on their respective awards between Wednesday and yesterday.
Sands China has earned Five-Star awards for five of its properties, including first time awardee, the apartment-style French-themed Paiza Lofts at The Parisian Macao in Cotai, as reported by the Post yesterday.
Wynn receives 22 Five-Star awards
Wynn Resorts in Macau and the US announced in its statement that it has earned 22 Forbes Travel Guide (FTG) Five-Star Awards this year, adding that it is “more than any other independent hotel company in the world”.
The statement noted that Wynn Macau has earned eight FTG Five-Star awards, while Wynn Palace continues to have the most FTG Five-Star restaurants of any individual resort in the world.
Wynn Macau COO Frederic Luvisutto was quoted in the statement as saying: “We are very honoured to be recognised once again by Forbes with all these fantastic awards. These awards continue to highlight the passion and dedication of the team to continuously deliver exceptional guest experiences to our very discerning guests.”
Moreover, in the US, the statement added, Wynn Las Vegas earned five of the FTG Five-Star awards, while Encore Boston Harbour earned two awards.
Melco wins greatest No. of stars
Melco Resorts & Entertainment said that its various hotels, restaurants and spas in Asia garnered a total of 16 Five-star awards and continues to lead among integrated resorts in Asia with the greatest number of stars received.
The integrated resort operator noted that it earned Five-star awards across its properties including City of Dreams, Studio City, Altira Macau, and City of Dreams Manila. The statement pointed out that this year also marks the 15th successive year that Altira Macau has achieved an FTG Five-Star award across both the Hotel and Spa categories.
Melco Chairman and CEO Lawrence Ho Yau-lung was quoted by the statement as saying: “The recognition underlines Melco’s ongoing commitment to providing guests with the most memorable world-class hospitality experiences across our global portfolio of integrated resorts. We will continue to further develop and enhance Melco’s curated blend of design, entertainment and quality as we look forward to welcoming more guests from local, regional and overseas markets this coming year.”
Galaxy gets 8 Five-Star ratings, most under one roof
Galaxy Macau said in its statement that the resort has garnered eight Five-Star ratings across its hotels, restaurants and spas, noting that it remains the top integrated resort with the most Forbes Five-Star hotel honours under one roof.
Galaxy Hotel, the statement said, has celebrated the Forbes Five-Star Recognition two years in a row as one of the largest five-star hotels in the world. Moreover, Banyan Tree Macau secured the rating for the eleventh year, while The Ritz-Carlton, Macau maintained the recognition for the eighth successive year. Hotel Okura Macau, the statement added, has been awarded its third Five-Star accolade.
The Michelin starred 81⁄2 Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA also retained its Five-Star rating, while Lai Heen at The Ritz-Carlton marked the fifth consecutive year of the achievement, according to the statement. Moreover, the Banyan Tree Spa Macau and The Ritz-Carlton Spa respectively garnered their Five-Star spa ratings for the eleventh and eighth years in a row.
Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) Macau COO Kevin Kelley was quoted as saying: “Galaxy Macau’s sustained accolades are a proud reflection of our dedication to unparalleled excellence and outstanding luxury hospitality”
He added: “Looking ahead, the introduction of six new luxury hotel brands in our Phase 4 expansion reaffirms our commitment to enriching Macau’s appeal as a premier travel destination.”
Congratulating Galaxy Macau, FTG’s President of Ratings Amanda Frasier was quoted as saying: “The team continued to deliver an elevated guest experience with top marks for its exceptionally caring staff and property-wide commitment to guest wellbeing”.
SJM earns 10 distinctions
SJM Resorts properties collectively earned 10 awards, nine of which are Five-Star Awards, across Grand Lisboa Palace (GLP) and Grand Lisboa Macau.
The statement noted that the GLP in Cotai now has a tally of 29 stars, adding that the GLP, THE KARL LAGERFELD MACAU, the Palace Garden restaurant, The Spa at Grand Lisboa Palace, and The Spa at THE KARL LAGERFELD, all earned the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star award for the second consecutive year.
This year also saw Mesa by José Avillez join this year’s lineup with an inaugural Four-Stars. Moreover, for the fifth consecutive year, the Grand Lisboa Hotel, The Spa at Grand Lisboa, Robuchon au Dôme, and The 8 all maintained their Five-Star distinctions, now having a total of 20 stars.
SJM Managing Director Daisy Ho Chiu Fung was quoted by the statement as saying: “This year’s recognition from the Forbes Travel Guide serves as a testament to our dedication and the relentless effort of our team. We remain committed to elevating our offerings, providing high-quality, diverse travel experiences that contribute to Macau’s stature as a premier World Centre of Tourism and Leisure.”
MGM again garners 7 Five-Star Awards
Integrated resort operator MGM said that it has once again garnered seven Five-Star Awards this year.
The statement noted that MGM MACAU received the honour for the ninth consecutive year, while Tria in both MGM properties won the awards for the fifth consecutive year.
The IR has also garnered four Five-Star Awards between both properties for three years in a row: the Emerald Tower, the Skylofts, and Sichuanese restaurant Five Foot Road at MGM COTAI; and Chinese Lingnan restaurant Imperial Court at MGM MACAU.
MGM China Holdings President and COO Hubert Wang Zhiqi was quoted by the statement as saying: “I sincerely thank the Golden Lion Team for their concerted efforts and innovative thinking in creating top-notch, world-class hospitality and gastronomic experiences. This global accolade not only enhances Macau’s international image and its allure for tourists, but also has a positive impact on MGM for further expanding its foreign tourist markets.”
