POLY MGM MUSEUM’s inaugural exhibition recently garnered the “International and Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan Cooperation Award” at the 22nd (2024) “Top Ten Museum Exhibitions” in China, the integrated resort operator MGM said in a recent statement.
The inaugural exhibition is titled “The Maritime Silk Road – Discover the mystical seas and encounter the treasures of the ancient trade route”, and, according to the statement, explores “the deep historical ties between Macau and China through the maritime Silk Road”.
The statement noted that the recognition highlights the museum’s role “as a bridgehead for Chinese culture’s global outreach”.
The statement said that the “Top Ten Museum Exhibitions” award “represents the highest distinction in China’s museum exhibition sector”. A total of 161 submissions were reviewed in the 2024 selection process, with 46 exhibitions moving up to the final round, according to the statement.
The statement noted that the annual selections were guided by the National Cultural Heritage Administration and organised by the Chinese Museums Association and China Cultural Relics Newspaper, with the annual selection aiming “to elevate exhibition standard and public service level”.
Showcasing artefacts and artworks, along with state-of-the-art technology, the nearly 2,000-square-metre museum is a collaboration between MGM and Poly Culture. It is located at MGM MACAU’s second floor.
It has garnered close to 700,000 visits since it opened, the statement said, along with extensive media attention. The statement added that total exposure on social media platforms has surpassed 3 billion views, with 1.78 million interactions recorded.
