Students from the Macao Polytechnic University’s (MPU) Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts programme are presenting a raft of works in an exhibition titled “Prototype” at the CREATIVE MACAU – Centre for Creative Industries gallery in Nape until November 8.

Having opened on Thursday, the works by students comprising those studying in their first, second and third years showcase their creativity through game design, 3D modelling, animation, and interactive art.

“Through hands-on assignments across various courses, students have gained proficiency in a wide array of design tools and production techniques, transforming abstract ideas into fully realised works”, according to a statement on the Creative Macau website, adding that the exhibition “marks an important milestone” in the students’ academic journeys.

Through sharing their art with members of the public, the exhibition aims to inspire dialogue and exchange on media arts, emerging technologies, and their cultural impact.

Moreover, during the exhibition’s opening ceremony on Thursday, Institute of European Studies of Macau (IEEM) President Paulo Canelas de Castro remarked that the purpose of CREATIVE MACAU is to give a platform for the different communities to interact and get to know each other, as well as promote young artists’ values. He noted that the centre looks forward to seeing more works from the public university.

MPU’s Faculty of Arts and Design Dean Lai Mei Kei said in her speech that aside from the exhibits showing aspects such as how students see Macau as their hometown and their reflections on the virtual world, the works are also representative of what youngsters think about the city, hoping that exhibitiongoers will enjoy looking at the works.

Exhibitiongoers may admire the works from Mondays through Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. The gallery is closed on Sundays.
