Secretary for Transport and Public Works Raimundo do Rosario said yesterday that the new Land Law does not allow the continuation of a plan – which the government launched a few years ago – to rebuild village houses involved in the long-running controversy over traditional land deeds in Coloane.
Rosario made the remarks yesterday when replying to an oral interpellation by lawmaker-cum-unionist Kwan Tsui Hang during a plenary session of the legislature.
In her interpellation, Kwan pointed out that the Lands, Public Works and Transport Bureau (DSSOPT) launched the plan in 2009 to help Coloane residents without an officially recognised land deed to rebuild or renovate their village houses. Kwan asked the government why it had suspended the plan.
