The local government should set up the “Macau equivalent” of the Nobel Prize, Ieong Chi Wa, a member of the Tourism Development Committee, said yesterday, adding the proposed prize would be a good way to “nurture talents” for the city.

Ieong, a board member of the Macau Tourist Guide Association, made the remarks during a consultation session on the draft of the government’s first Five-Year Development Plan for advisory body members under Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Alexis Tam Chon Weng’s portfolio, at the World Trade Centre (Macau) in Nape.

Ieong, a former journalist, works as a tour guide and commentator.
